Trading in the 17th 18th Centuries
In the early seventeenth century and mid eighteenth century we find that trading was a big source of getting goods to survive. A lot of the trading that was going on was fur-trading and than eventually commercial centers. During this period of time the people were trading one good for another. ... Because of the profit involved in fur trading it make it towns that fur-traded greedy. ... Fur trading began to decline and people weren’t really settling in the valley anymore. ... By the late 17th century there were new settlers of the valley which consisted of French and Dutch. ... By the 18th century farmers established long-term settlements on a basic far more secure than the temporary lodging of the fur-traders of the mid 17th century. ... Though the early 19th century farm families in Ulster County produced and traded agricultural goods much as they did in the 18th century.
