Struggle for Power and Effects of Delineation
The texts of Enoch, Daniel and Revelation all deal with a power struggle involving God. The difference between each conflict is who challenges God’s power. ... There is also a difference in how God reacts in relation to the delineation away from Him. Through these three texts the reader is able to interpret the reactions of God when His power is challenged by people of different “social” stature. ... The second sin that challenges God’s power in Enoch is when the Watchers reveal heavenly secrets to mankind. ... Humans, in this text, are not viewed as challenging God’s power, for they are the ones who have been corrupted, they do not know a different path than the one which they are led down. ... Daniel addresses the challenge of God’s power by a king. ... Revelation addresses the challenge of God’s power by humans, from within a church. Although, each church is doing things correctly, God seems to have a power struggle within each church. ... In this text humans seem to be the ones challenging God’s power. ... In all three texts God’s power is greater than earthly power. ... Power struggle between God and different people seems to set a standard for humans to live by. Through conflicts that arose due to the need for power, there were scenarios set up that taught meaningful lessons. ... It seems that the delineation from God effects how they are punished.
