Individualism or Conformity?
Free will is the single most important aspect of life. God gave humans the ability to decide their destiny. To choose what society tells us to choose is conformity; to choose on your own is individuality. As an individual one can choose right from wrong; as a conformist one is told what is right and wrong. Many Americans value their right to be an individual. However, many people throughout the world are forced into conformity. Individuality is the single most important aspect of life. To conform to the norms of society is to lose your sense of identity. However, in many situations conformity is the only way to stay alive. In 1984 the main character, Winston, lives under a harsh totalitarian government.
