The Drinking Age I believe the drinking age should be lowered to about 18 or 19. The current legal age to purchase alcohol is 21, but a majority of college students under this age consume alcohol, and mostly in an irresponsible manner. ... When one says that the drinking age is 21 and is for mature and responsible adults, all the “kids” who are under that age want to be seen as adults. ... A university is torn between 2 groups: the under 21, (will do anything to get a drink age), and the 21 and over, (can get it whenever they feel like it age).
