Philosophy Book Review
Reading Summary 4/2/02: In the reading in Rene Descarte’s Meditations 1 and 2, she sits back and contemplates on things that do and do not exist and how we are able to tell whether or not these things are in our presence. She starts out saying how she is going to go about trying to prove all things that she doubts to be either true or false. She believes that everything she has believed to be true up till her point of writing the material was true due to what she had gathered from her senses. Descartes is aware though that these very senses can be of deceptive nature and it is our job not to put full trust into them. She uses her body to prove many of her points.
