Columbus Day
Columbus Day This research paper is a brief summary about how Columbus Day came into being, the Columbus Doors in Rotunda( P.1 attached at the end) and some doubt cast on Columbus¡¯s gender. Columbus Day is a memory for Columbus¡¯s great adventure and his historical discovery of the New Continent---America. On August 3, 1492, an Italian named Christopher Columbus, and ninety men set sail on the flagship "Santa Maria", with another two ships, the "Nina" and the "Pinta", in their fleet. On October 11th, ten oclock at night, after three months¡¯ westward sail, Columbus saw a twinkling light in the distance, which was proven to be an island by ¡°Pinta¡±. Columbus called the native ¡°Indians¡±, and held his belief to death that he had indeed arrived at ¡°the East¡±, which is in fact America.
