Down Syndrome
Down syndrome: one of the most common genetic causes of mental retardation or developmental delay. Down syndrome is a genetic condition in which there are three 2lst chromosomes as compared to the usual two. There are records that describe symptoms of Down syndrome dating back to 1505. Even though it is assumed that Down syndrome was present, it was not recognized until 1866.
