Terri’s situation remained private up until recent months, when the case gained large amounts of media attention. Terri’s husband, Michael Schiavo, has been trying to get Terri’s tube removed therefore allowing his wife to die. Michael claims that Terri is not making progress and wouldn’t have wanted to live in a vegetative state. As her legal guardian the law permits him to make these decisions however Terri’s family is fighting back. They insist on keeping their daughter alive and believe that Michael is only after Terri’s life insurance money. With the many loopholes, unanswered questions, and conflicting evidence, it is difficult to decide what should happen to Terri Schiavo. However, it is clear that Terri’s parents are more concerned with her well-being and should become her legal guardians. In February of 1990, Terri Schiavo went into cardiac arrest and collapsed in the hallway of her Florida home.
