Mediterraneo The film “Mediterraneo” by Gabriele Salvatore’s, was filmed in 1991, it takes its audience back to the period of fascism. Yet it is unlike any other film which covers the fascist regime. During the time of fascist Italy, Mussolini encouraged Italian film makers to show the world a happy Italy with a positive outlook on life. A few directors followed this format, but one can also see how a few directors went in their own direction. Instead if directing films which falsely showed how the Italian life was a good life, they would make neutral films. A way of showing the negative side of fascism without getting in too much trouble was showing fascism in a comedic film. These are the circumstances that many directors had to work under.
