Though David had occasional lapses in judgment with regard to his personal life, his strategic forethought and bravery brought him great success as a leader. In his dealings with Uriah the Hittite and Bathsheba, David didn’t act with the presence of mind expected of him, instead succumbing to impulse. ... Had David been more conscious of what almost certainly would, and did, result, he would have avoided the whole trouble. ...
