Brazilian Rain forest under siege. The Amazon rain forest extends for 4 million SqKm, and is home to hundreds of thousands of animal and plant species. It covers around 3.5% of the Earth’s surface and is home to 50% of the world’s living species which many are still unknown to humans. The Amazon is also home to some 250,000 indigenous people in 510 areas, many of them fighting for rights to land that they and their ancestors have lived on for centuries.
