... The novel “My Place” traces the personal development of its author, Sally Morgan and through it she exposes many of the people who are so important to her life.
The person who has a lot to do with Sally’s life is Nan and throughout the book you will see how much Nan means to Sally and Sally’s up bringing. ... ” Nan, although she never wanted Sally to start her book, she is the one who really pushes Sally to get the book out there for the public to see just what sort of life they led. Throughout the book Nan constantly denies being aboriginal but this only makes Sally more persistent to get Nan to accept and embrace the thought of being aboriginal. So as you can see in many ways intentional and unintentional, Nan is perhaps the greatest influence on Sally and on her desire to write and finish the book about her life.
Another important person in Sally’s life would have to be Gladys. During the time when Sally is desperate to find out about her family history, Glad was right there beside her sometimes just as eager to find out more.
