acceptance

Introduction: Acceptance. A seemingly unachievable goal that everybody wishes to attain. Whatever point a person may be in life, they are striving to reach this goal. College is a goal that many Americans are not fortunate enough to attain. This is the goal that, I myself, have been striving to reach. I have been preoccupying my time with many culmonnating activities which i believe have better prepared me for the possibility of post secondary education. For instance, I am profoundly involved in the community including being a member of the Girl Scouts of America and volunteer my spare time at the soup kitchen. I also dedicate a great deal of my time to my schooling and grades. Overall, acceptance is not based on achievements but rather, on the person as a whole.I'm trying hard to understand I'm trying hard to do the things it takes to be a man Life's slipping away from me It's not the way I thought it'd be I'm trying hard to understand "and to know just who I am" I'm trying hard to get a break or just to give a damn I'm trying hard to get away "but I always seem to stay" I'm trying hard to understand a fucking word you say Life's slipping away from me It's not the way I thought it'd be Somebody help me I'm in this mess and I'm slipping away I'm trying hard to understand "but I don't know if I can" I'm trying hard to make the best of this mess I'm in Life's slipping away from me It's not the way I thought it'dbe Life's slipping away from me I can't hold on I can't belive it Life's slipping away from me It's not the way I thought it'd be Somebody help me I'm in this mess and I'm slipping away I'm trying hard to understand The poem, "My Revolution," by Rosario Morales also focuses on liberation from oppression by describing her new consciousness or lens through which the she learns to view herself and the world.
