Remembering the differences.

My family means more to me than anything else and therefore I think it is very important to always remember the customs, traditions, stories or activities in which we always have. I am a person of many different backgrounds and thus, my traditions are similar yet different from other families. Both my mother and father have brought in new and old traditions into our family creating entirely unique events. Birthdays have always been a very important celebration in our family. My mother’s family, which includes her mom, dad, and six brothers, always celebrated each birthday every year and so she felt that it was an important thing. We have celebrated our birthdays every year, never forgetting anybody’s! We always have the same cake for every birthday. It is a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing which is my father’s great-grandmother’s recipe. For the last 22 birthdays of my life, which is all of them, I have always had this cake.
