Alfred Stieglitz- The Patriotic Photographer

To preserve these rights from corruption has been Stieglitz’s endeavor. ... Alfred Stieglitz is one of these photographers who changed the way many people thought about art and its importance. ... On January 1, 1864, Alfred Stieglitz was born in New York where he became influenced and soon became one of the most influential voices in Modernist Art (Frank). ... htm) Stieglitz was frustrated because photography was seen more as an interesting quirk than an art form on par with painting and such. Through sheer talent and dedication, though, Stieglitz was able to accomplish this goal and more. It is an interesting side note that Stieglitz was the man who discovered Georgia O’Keefe, one of the most prominent painters of the 20th century (Bry). The even ended up married until Stieglitz died in 1946. Thus, Stieglitz was able to leave an indelible mark in two art worlds: Photography and Painting. ... And, even though critiquing someone’s art (good or bad) makes me feel slightly hypocritical, I can honestly say, that even without knowing about the references of Alfred Stieglitz, he is a talented artist.
