Christianity had a strong influence on the Byzantine Empire, now all that is left of the empire are its churches and the works of art within them. The Byzantine Empire had many different forms of art including, mosaics, painting, and decorative sculpture with stone carving, metal and ivory. ...
During the time of the Byzantine Empire many people were illiterate so to teach the members of the church about Christianity they used art. In the 6th century AD was when art came about in the Empire.
