Problem: Nowadays, many diets are available out on the market, but do the new “fad” diets really work? Popular diets have always been the high-protein diets, which are supposed to increase lean body mass and decrease body fat. But which ones work the best, and does the type of protein really make a difference in the process? Whey protein isolate consists of casein, whey and egg protein. Whey works quickly in muscle synthesis and rebuilding for up to two hours. Soy protein isolate in the past has been clinically proven to prevent cancer, heart disease, and other illnesses, while whey protein has been widely used by bodybuilders to gain muscle mass. Hypothesis: The hypothesis is as follows: If there are six individuals on an exercise regimen, with two individuals on a soy diet, the two on an animal protein diet, and the last two on a normal diet, then the animal protein subjects will experience the most weight loss and have a greater increase of lean muscle mass than any of the other test subjects. Independent Variables: The independent variables in this experiment are the diets, and the people/demographic on the diet.
