Christopher Bruce takes up animal/bird-like features and characteristics to express and also associate the male character with the Rooster he is portraying. He moves his head in the way a Rooster would, and holds his hands under his arms as a symbol for a Roosters wings. ... The fact that the man is aiming to be a Rooster, shows how at one time in history, men had a higher status than women, similar to how Roosters have a higher status than Hens, or any other animal or bird. ... Both pieces, (Rooster, and our dance piece,) are similar in ways that both pieces had to demonstrate something to the audience. ... The song we used was of a slow tempo, to reflect our drunkenness, and the songs used in the piece Rooster were of different tempo’s, some fast, others slow.
