Cosimo Rosselli s Adortaion of the Child
Born in 1439, in the beginning of the Renaissance, Cosimo Rosselli is not as well-known as other Renaissance painters. ... But in the Columbia Museum of Art, there was an interesting Rosselli work—Adoration of the Child with Saint Joseph, Saint John the Baptist, and Saint Francis. The painting’s estimated date of completion was between 1470 and 1475. Rosselli used tempera style paint on a lindenwood panel to create the image that has been restored over 500 years.
Religion is obviously a powerful force in Rosselli’s life. In the painting, Rosselli presents three powerful Saints adoring the Christ child in the Madonna arms.
