The rain beats down on the nameless guard, his very mind is a drum of emotions and sounds coming from a force that he can't control. A victim himself, he is feared by thousands of prisoners that view him as the headstone of death and brutality. This guard works in a rustic prison where one prisoner, Gregory, stands out among the thousands. This prisoner has a unique outlook on life, one that the guard can relate to. They share a mutual understanding, a respect, a friendship. Gregory is to be killed and hung as an example to others who may follow in his footsteps.
