Maurits C. Escher “Impossible Worlds” Maurits C. Escher was born in 1898, in a small town in Holland. His father was a hydraulic engineer and supported his son through his artistic career. Escher was never a good student and art was the only subject that permitted him to pass high school, otherwise he would have failed. After graduating and with the support of his father, his father sent Escher off to architectural school. Soon after going he quickly transferred to the graphic art department. He left the school in 1922 and ventured to Italy and other places for a few years. He moved back to Holland in 1935. During Escher’s travel he was trying to find the answers to an idea he had on how to create many different worlds to take place at the same time.
