Equus

|
Peter Shaffer, the author of Equus, is a great playwright. After reading Equus, I found a new love for plays. The reading was extremely enjoyable. The character of Alan was influenced from a story of a boy who blinded six horses for no apparent reason. Saffer gave the character a reason and transformed the little he heard into a realistic, touching story. The “mental world” Shaffer created, was entirely believable and exciting to read. Alan Strang became a living character through Saffer’s words. Little by little, we explore the profound, dark paths of Alan‘s troubled world and life experiences. Thus the more we read, the more drawn we are to this world. Peter Saffer accomplishes this by not allowing the reader to lose concentration.
