Over the past thirty years, improvements in satellite technology have greatly influenced the way news is spread across the world and how information affects global society. In the beginning, satellite equipment was far too costly for the majority of the population to enjoy and was chiefly used by the elite and Governing bodies of the industrialized countries. Since the introduction of satellite, improvements in technology have decreased satellite size and cost, which in turn has increased production and distribution of programming. Satellite communications have revolutionized how news can be distributed and received throughout the world. The increasing global audience has shown a vast interest in the non-stop world news stations. ... Recently, western broadcast stations such as CNN have dominated this field of global airways. ... With the spread of satellite television, nearly every inhabited continent on the planet is now able to receive broadcasting. ... The implementation of satellite television has without doubt distorted the world into a westernized global village.
