Executive Summary Rawlings Sporting Goods operates in a focus strategy that deals primarily in baseball equipment and apparel. They do operate, in a limited sense, in basketball, football, and soccer. When dissecting corporate strategy, one must look at the numbers first to gauge whether or not the current strategy is working. In the case of Rawlings, the sporting goods manufacturer has rebounded well after a disappointing 1999 fiscal year. Sales growth, return on assets, return on equity investments, and the net profit margin have increased since the sale of the VIC Hockey Division. This shows that Rawlings is headed in the right direction; however, only when compared against the numbers of industry leaders do we find room for improvement.
