... I am actually glad that I saved this experience until the last day because I was lucky enough to see that new exibit on Mary Ver Hoef and Robby Mohatt. Robby Mohatt had some very good non-objective and abstract pieces but Mary Ver Hoef’s work was amazing and inspiring to my own attempts as an artist.
Robby Mohatt had a few of his series in the Well’s St Art Show including Marking Time, and Icon of Place, along with a piece called I Remember Janka. ... The main section of red could represent all the people killed along with the pain and suffering that some endured while the name and the number could be the identifying aspects on one prisoner that Mohatt has focused on. ... It seems to be a sort of calling card of Mohatt’s to have a contrasting square in the corner of his paintings with cracks or scratches in it. ...
