Do you like to read poems? Well here they are. “Sir Patrick Spens” The objective point of view “Sir Patrick Spens” is effective in that none of the narrator’s feelings or judgements on the event are shown. However, I was able to make judgements from the content of the poem. The lines “O our Scots nobles wer richt laith To weet their cork-heild schoone” made me believe that the Scottish nobles were arrogant elitists, afraid to do any work. Lines 1 to 4 make the King come off as most kings do – conceited and lazy. I suppose that Sir Patrick Spens was meant to be the hero of the ballad, but stanza 5 makes him come off as a coward, hesitant to do what the King has commanded. Sir Patrick Spens ignored the advice of one of his sailors – “I feir a deadlie storm ….
