|
The structure and operations of IBP has changed dramatically over the past 30 years, but their aggressive growth strategy with a single focus of being the most efficient processor in the meat packing industry has remained consistent. However, because of recent concerns about adverse health effects of red meat, competition, excess capacity, and speculation of Occidental’s stake in IBP being sold to the public, IBP is forced to evaluate their strategic options for the near future. Some of the most important challenges IBP face includes addressing the need to enter the ever more popular health conscious market, establishing quality name recognition in order to stay ahead of the competition, and reevaluating the company’s financial decisions.
