Analyization of Desiree’s Baby After reading the story entitled Desiree’s Baby many can understand the topics that are brought into the story by the author. Kate Chopin publishes a story that produces a perfect example of the challenges of men versus women and the alteration in which women face in growing up. Chopin describes the position in which women hold in society in the 1890’s. She shows the way in which different races were treated in early years before slaves were free. Chopin uses many examples to persuade the reader to believe that the challenges of men versus women , as well as women transforming from delicate to sturdy, has been in effect since one can remember. “ When he frowned she trembled, but loved him,” is a way in which Desiree was frightened by her husband. This shows the women were afraid of even their own husbands, and that she was willing to do just about anything to satisfy him. “ When he smiled, she asked no greater blessing of God,” is an example of the women being grateful to God for making her husband express a simple action as a smile.
