A Dip in the Road

If you had met me in the summer of 2001 chances are you would have wished you hadn‘t. I was what society calls a waste of space. I had graduated from high school to nothing and loved it. The reason I think you wouldn’t have liked to meet me was it would have been unpleasant for you. Chances are that I may have hit you. Not with a bat, fist or other blunt object but with one of my 3 cars I went through that year. I was a very uncaring person, with no real “drive” in life. I like to state it that way now. I went through life as if cruise control was autopilot. I was out on the town, cruising “the strip.” You know the street, Main St. Virginia. I was in my prized possession; my 1993 white Mitsubishi Eclipse. I had it decked out. You know: CD, radio, running lights a black leather bra and eight speakers. I was looking for trouble as always, and about to find it. It was a pleasant but chilly evening- the perfect time to whoop it up out at Lake Vermillion. I stopped at my friend’s house, Zak, and he was ready and raring to go. I told him we needed to break the monotony and plan a party, so we laid it out.
