In Graduation the main idea in this story is about a young black girl named Mayo, who had a rough childhood, poor and wanted to turn her life around. In order to do this Mayo knew she had to be the best at whatever she did.
A young black named Mayo and brother Bailey ere sent to Stamps to live with their grandmother whom they called Mom. Their grandmother owns a general store, which supports Mayo and her brother.
