Lord of the Flies

Lindsay Reed Theme #4 Smith 10/13/03 Lord of the Flies The Lord of the Flies was written in 1954 by William Golding. The books names comes from a Hebrew word which in English means “Lord of the Flies” or the devil. The book is about a group of boys stranded on an island and how they transform from being civilized to becoming savages. Symbolism is a big part of the book. What the boys wear, how there hair is kept and face paint express how each boy feels on the inside. As the story goes along you can see how there clothes and hair become there expression of there moods. As soon as the story opens the author explains what the characters are wearing as they are introduced.
