Many people will argue about what the reasons are that Macbeth killed Duncan. ... In all three of these actions you will see how Macbeth slowly pushes himself to kill Duncan, along with the little help of his loving wife.
We first meet the three witches at the beginning of the play as Macbeth and Banquo return from a great battle. The witches make prophecies about Macbeth, and the one that confuses him the most is “All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter! ... 49) When Macbeth is first told this he does not believe them. Duncan is still king and Macbeth does not know why these witches tell him this. Even though Macbeth does not necessarily believe them, the idea that he can become king is now implanted in his head. I do not blame the witches themselves for causing Macbeth to murder the king, but I believe that if this meeting between the witches and Macbeth never took place then he would have never got the idea to kill Duncan.
