Ms. Mirrielees

“In life, anything may happen; in fiction, only those things endowed with credibility. And in fiction… happenings cannot be credible unless cause and effect balance at least momentarily in the minds of the readers.” –Ms. Mirrielees. This quote could be interpreted many ways. I always feel as if you always have to go beyond your understanding to feel one’s point of view or feeling. In this quote, I feel as if Mirrielees’ was trying to explain on what fiction should be like. I think this quote primarily starts off by stating that fiction can only be held to being credible when given life’s true characteristics.
