“In 1995 Gibbs SR toothpaste broadcasted the first TV commercial and it was never considered that an advert could ever be as sophisticated as the programmes surrounding them. ... ” Today, many trailers cost more than £450,000 to produce – only for a 30 second clip. ... The ‘S’ in DreamWorks has been edited to look like Shrek’s ears. ... ” This is tells us the name of the film. ... By the end of the trailer the audience has been given a good idea of the content and the nature of the film. ... As it is not immediately apparent what the film is about, we can be led to believe that this is a teaser trailer. ... This is effective because it keeps the audience on edge, anticipating what kind of film the trailer will feature. ... I sign disappears and in its place appears, “A STEVEN SPIELBERG FILM” The director’s name is in a large font as it is meant to stand out. ...
The “Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” trailer is the second teaser trailer as it does not inform us of the story line of the film, unlike the Shrek trailer. ... Then suddenly we different clips of parts in the film, including an extreme long shot of an army and different characters in the film. ... “Next Christmas the most extraordinary tale ever told will come to life” The effect of this is that the audience gets more interested in the film and they are told it is the greatest tale ever told, it would make them want to see it. ... Out of the two teaser trailers, this is the only one that has speaking in it. ...
For the first time in the trailer the name of the film is confirmed when the logo of ‘The Lord of The Rings’ is displayed.
