Brutus and Antony both make speeches at Caesar’s funeral to get toe people on their side. Therefore their speeches are intended to influence the people. ...
Brutus’ speech is put in prose, and he tries to justify his killing of Caesar. ... He speaks in an authorative manner focusing on honour and patriotism, whereas Antony’s speech has a poetic tone, portrayed the use of iambic pentameter. ... Antony was Caesar’s best friend so he obviously wanted to get revenge on his killers. ... Antony spoke to the crowd in a personal tone, addressing the crowds as friends,
“Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears. ... As for Brutus, he used a more authorative tone, portrayed by the use of imperatives “Be silent” and addressing the crowd as patriots. ... Brutus is cunning and clever in the way he uses repetition and juxtaposes phrases together in order to gain the peoples loyalty towards him. ...
As the people responded positively to Brutus’ speech, Antony could not directly insult Brutus. He says
