Praise the Common Man

Praise the Common Man Babies are born all over the United States of America every day. Any one of these children has the opportunity to become president some day. A baby born in Renaissance Italy entered the world with a path already determined by the social standing of its family. The present day United States is far from the likes of Italy in the 1500’s, so Niccolo Machiavelli’s views as expressed in, “The Qualities of the Prince,” are cynical and unsuitable for the lives of American people today. Machiavelli’s most adamant advice for the princes of his time was to be well versed in the art of war and always be armed. He stressed that the difference between a prince acquiring or loosing his state depended on his experience in war tactics.
