General Patton was born on November 11, 1885 in San Gabriel, California. He is known to be one of the greatest American leaders in history. He was one of the greatest field commanders of any war. Beginning at an early age, General Patton aspired to be a hero. Patton attended the Virginia Military Institute for one year. He then left for the US Military Academy at West Point. He graduated from West Point in 1909. Not long after his graduation he had his very first exposure to battle.
