The Shock

Darkness swarmed every inch of the room, with the only source of light being emitted from the television. Rain pelted mercilessly against the glass panels of the window, threatening to shatter it with its unrelenting might. As all hell was breaking loose outside the house, I was in the comfort of my ever-dependable sofa, though tattered it may be. The cool feel of the room soon succumbed to an immense wave of heat. This heat definitely did not radiate from the cup of hot chocolate in my clammy palms. Hesitantly, I got on my feet and trudged my sleepy feet along the warm carpeted ground. Within sight of the thermostat, the temperature read 30 degrees Celsius. Upon adjusting the temperature to that of my personal liking, I headed back for the sofa.
