Why is Joan of Arc So Significant a Historical Figure
Joan of Arc was of great significance in the history of the hundred years war and the history of France and England especially. Evidence of Joan’s success in her campaigns and various other ideas is recorded in the hundred years war chronicles, these detailed accounts were written during and up to thirty to forty years after the war had finished, this means that the after effects of the war were recorded also.
In 1920 Joan of Arc was made a saint of the Catholic church, this was hugely popular with Catholics and France especially, this was due to records that show of how Joan changed France’s history for the better hundreds of years ago. Historical accounts show that Joan helped the local people in her village after she had a number of visions from what she described to be angels.
