Period # 4 October 21, 2003 English HP For many young students around the globe, it is a dream, ambition, and wish to study in the United States of America. America, a land of opportunity, large booming cities, and intelligent universities, are just a few reasons as to why students from china, Japan, or India tend to receive education in this country. However, foreigners aren’t allowed to just migrate over here as they please; The United States government have enforced laws and provide policies which allow students to receive education in the country. Due to the events, which occurred on September 11, 2001, the policies have become tighter, restricting a large percentage of future foreign students into America. Out this percentage, my cousin Peter Alimweke, a 19-year-old Tanzanian citizen who plans to study in the U.S. was refused an F1 visa because his country was on the list of hidden terrorist. Peter, however, graduated from his secondary high school with high honors at the top of his class, and has nothing to do with the actions that occurred in America two years ago. In result to the situation above, I feel the U.S. government should change their views on foreign education in the America, and accept more student visas. This would give young foreigners greater opportunity in life and supply the United States with more intelligent individuals with a cultural background.
