In London information involving the results of a study on GM crops has leaked and it shows that the crops are more harmful to the environment then the current conventional crops. The trials looked at maize, sugar beet and oilseed rape. The crops are engineered to resist herbicides that kill weeds. When the weeds are no longer there, most wildlife is unable to survive due to lack of food. The sugar beet and oilseed rape were more affected then the maize. They believe that this is because many times maize is treated with herbicides that are more powerful then the chemicals they were using.
