Much like the knights of the Western World, the nation of Japan also had its proud warriors. Forged in the feudal societies of Japan over 1000 years ago, the warriors called Samurai came about as a result of conflicting interests amongst quarreling governments and powerful dynasties such as the Tokugawa, Minamoto and Yamato clans. ... Samurai were revered for their roles in government and in military alike, as they were important figures in both areas throughout Japanese history. As the nation grew and revolutionized, the immensely strong influences of the Samurai lent much to the formation of modern day Japan- evident in every aspect of its culture today. ...
