Stop Terrorism, Stop Fighting For Freedom? ... Although, after the events of September 11th, the word lost most its positive connotations amongst the western world, many countries of the world still regard terrorism as a noble cause of freedom fighting against oppression. Due to America’s war on terrorism, the word terrorist forms an instant image of a dark brown Middle Eastern male wearing a turban and bearing the evil intention to eradicate all Americans. Due to this created image of a terrorist, the war on terrorism often conflicts with the civil liberties and rights of many innocent yet terrorist-resembling people living in the United States. In order to cope with its terrorist threat, America must find the roots of its international problems and solve them with peace instead of war, at the same time it should enhance it’s security measures while focusing on completely avoiding racial practices and find a way to make the international community understand and agree on an impartial definition of terrorism which would make it easier to fight it.
Terrorism must be defined in order to justify a war against it.
