He also wanted his daughter, Marianne to marry Tartuffe, because of the goodness and kindness he sees in him and not looking at others people point of view. Instead of having Valere and his daughter to be married to each other, Tartuffe thinks he should be the one to marry his daughter, so that he might be able to be in charge and get attached to the family permanently. But Elmire, Orgon’s wife meets with Tartuffe and beg him to refuse the marriage. At that point, Tartuffe, thinking they’re alone, tries to propose a love affair with her.
