When the colonies were first formed, the relationship that existed between them and Britain was, over all, good. That all changed after the Boston Massacre in 1770. This was the first time that the king’s army fired on the king’s subjects. It is because of this so called “massacre” and the propaganda that was spread after that many of the colonists began to doubt in their mother country. Even though the colonists had begun to distrust Britain, their founding country, they had yet to do something.
