One of the most famous storied of Aphrodite is when Paris, the Trojan prince, was asked to judge which of three Olympian goddesses was the most beautiful, Aphrodite was chosen over Hera and Athena. In return, Hera and Athena had hoped to bribe Paris with their power and victory in battle, but instead Aphrodite offered the love of the most beautiful woman in the world. Helen of troy then eloped with Paris (ironically under the influence of Aphrodite), and Aphrodite remained loyal to Paris and the Trojans; and has even been documented to have intervened in battle to save her son Aeneas, whom was a Trojan ally.
