This is the point where African-Americans started to achieve the goal of equal education. They started to show the white race that Negroes could be taught, could learn, and achieve success in education. ... From 1875-1880 twenty-two Negro’s graduated, 1885 from 1890 forty-three graduated, and by 1900 over five hundred black received their education. ... If the Negro race didn’t have that chance to prove they were able to achieve education, it would have been a waste of reliable resource in the South
