Assignment B: Russia, 1917-19Gunpowder Plot Introduction The Gunpowder Plot was a Catholic scheme to murder James the first of England and his Parliament at the state opening on the fifth of November 1605. It was to be followed by a national uprising by English Catholics who were distressed by severe laws against the practice of their religion. The Conspirators The conspirators included Robert Catesby, John Wright, Thomas Winter, Christopher Wright, Robert Winter, Robert Keyes, Thomas Percy, John Grant, Sir Everard Digby, Francis Tresham Ambrose Rookwood, Thomas Bates and Guy Fawkes.
