A Need for Reconciliation (CRR Essay)

A Need for Reconciliation (B) When a man’s guilt and sin becomes embedded in his body, it will eventually and effectively devour his heart and soul, leaving only empty spaces of remorse and compunction. For this reason a person must come to grips with reality and ask God for his divine mercy before he condemns himself to hell, not only to Satan’s hell, but his own psychological hell. In the short stories “The Minister’s Black Veil” and “Roger Malvin’s Burial”, two men fall victim to the merciless control of their guilt and sin when they are unable to accept their imperfections. Reverend Hooper loses his connection with people as a shadow of shame rests over his dull face. In an effort to conceal his blemished features from humanity, he hides behind a dark black veil.
