One would think that there was already enough controversy between the two political parties, but even more differences arose at the proposal of the Alien and Sedition Acts. The Alien Enemies Act did not create much controversy due to the fact that it was in effect at the same time that Congress had declared war. The Alien Friends Act was an act in which the president was given the power to get rid of any foreigners that he felt were a possible threat to the nation. ... The final of all four acts, The Sedition Act, is the act in which the majority of all the controversy between the two political parties arose. ... All of the difference in beliefs about The Alien and Sedition Acts were settled on the floor of Congress instead of through writings of letter where people had lots of time to think about they way in which they believed. The reason that The Sedition Act controlled the amount of controversy was because it was the only single act of all four acts that was enforceable against U.
